Our trustees generously give up their time to guide and support Releasing Potential as it seeks to grow and move forward. They are enthusiastic about the work that we do and open to new ways that we can develop as an organisation. They embrace the ‘critical friend’ role, asking all the right questions, ensuring that our executive team have thought through their plans and vision for the future. Our trustees are an integral part of Releasing Potential’s decision-making, safeguarding, and financial processes.
Chair of Trustees
Alexis is the newest trustee to join the team, currently the Chief Operating Officer of a local software business, Alex has a degree in Astrophysics from Cardiff University and is an experienced manager and company Director. Alex is passionate about STEM and runs the Chichester Raspberry Jam, a local community group where people of all ages learn to code.
Paul has the skills essential to any board: a way with numbers. Paul is now retired but previously as Finance Director of a local business he provides guidance and support with budgeting and spreadsheets. As a member of the Finance Group he provides a wise voice and a steady hand, and has been instrumental in recent decisions around focusing the charity’s work on our central mission to support young people.
Education Governance Board member
Having been there at the birth and spent most of the last 20 years as part of the Releasing Potential family in one way or another, Jo isn’t quite ready to step away just yet. As a former teacher and a Governor of a local mainstream Primary school Jo continues to get involved with the Education Committee bringing her love of processes and data, along with insights into Ofsted, and governance in a mainstream settings. She welcomes the opportunity to stay connected and to continue to take her part in supporting and growing opportunities available to those young people who need them the most.
Releasing Potential is governed by a Board of Trustees drawn from the worlds of business and education. The Board consists of sub-groups which report to the full Board, each dealing with a particular area of concern:

The Finance Group works on setting the annual budget for the charity, on monthly management accounts, the Annual Report and Accounts submitted to the Charities Commission and Companies House, and any other finance-related issues which arise.

The work of the Education Governance Group focuses on improving standards of teaching and learning in the school. The EGG is concerned with analysing data produced in the school and using it to hold to account the Head and Executive Head in ensuring the best possible outcomes for students. The EGG considers the School’s Self Evaluation Framework and advises on the School Improvement Plan.
Safeguarding and HR Group

The Safeguarding and HR Group is concerned with all aspects of supporting people in the organisation. The Group supports the Senior Operating Officer/Designated Safeguarding Lead in Safeguarding and Human Resources issues which arise. The Group monitors decision making and recording processes to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory frameworks.
