Post-16 Traineeship Programme

 

Releasing Potential is pleased to be able to offer our Post-16 Traineeship Programme for school leavers who are not ready for a large college setting, an apprenticeship or to enter the world of work. The programme is based over 2 years and consists of the following:

QUALIFICATIONS

Students work towards a series of qualifictaions appropriate to their trainseeship, including:

 

  • NCFE English and Maths in Functional Skills up to Level 2
  • NCFE Diploma in Occupational Studies in the Workplace – Level 1
SUPPORTED WORK PLACEMENTS

Supported work placements within Releasing Potential Enterprise businesses which include:

 

  • Emsworth Outboards – Marine outboard engine mechanics and retail
  • Willow Farm – Animal and site management, including alpacas, sheep, chickens, ducks and allotments
  • Coastal Rowing Hub – Based at Northney Marina, assisting the site manager in running water based courses, site management and administration
  • RP Printing – Designing, printing, making and distribution of banners, large scale posters and canvas prints
EXTERNAL WORK PLACEMENTS

In additionla to supoprted work plavements in our own businesses, we offer supported and unsupported work placements with businesses outside of Releasing Potential.

In the past these have included:

  • Car garages
  • Cafés and other catering establishments
  • Garden centres
  • Animal rescue centres
  • Marinas
  • Painting and decorating firms.
ADDITIONAL BENEFITS

Students on out trianeeship programme benefit by developing a range of additional skills such as:

  • Travel training towards independent travel – supported
  • Life skills and preparation for work including CV writing, practice interviews, searching for jobs, citizens advice and work site visits
  • Team building and career pathway development
  • National Governing Body qualifications for powerboat L2, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, short range award and rowing
  • Additional qualifications can include driving theory test, first aid certificate, food hygiene certificate

Even though this is a 2 year programme, students are supported to move on to an apprenticeship, college or training course, or into secure employment as and when they are ready to do so at any point during the programme.

This programme is bespoke for each individual, with the aim for students to gain practical skills and confidence so they are ready for the world of work or further training. They are able to be independent and have confidence to go forward in their lives as young adults.
