Every great career starts with curiosity and a few questions. Whether you’re an experienced in SEN or exploring this path for the first time, we want you to feel informed and inspired.
Below, we’ve answered some of the most common questions from candidates just like you – people who are passionate about making a real difference and wondering if RP is the right fit.
From our values (Choice Theory is a big part of them)
To how we support our staff (yes, including a generous pension and actual salary), you’ll find everything you need to take the next step with confidence.
… Let’s dive in.
How many hours will I work each day?
You’ll work a standard 8-hour day.
Can I work part-time?
Yes, part-time roles are available. These typically involve working fewer full days per week, not shorter daily hours. This ensures consistency and structure for our pupils.
What is the pupil-to-staff ratio?
We maintain high staffing levels to meet individual needs. Staff typically support pupils on a 1:1 basis or in very small groups, allowing for tailored support and strong relationships.
Is the salary pro-rated for school holidays?
No. Salaries are actual, not pro-rated, meaning you are paid your full contracted salary regardless of holiday periods.
Is there a pension scheme?
Yes. We offer a generous pension scheme, providing valuable long-term financial benefits for our staff.
Is there a career path?
Absolutely. We actively support your professional growth through CPD, training, and opportunities for progression.
What is the organisation’s approach to behaviour and relationships?
Our values are guided by Glasser’s Choice Theory and a strong belief in positive reinforcement. We focus on building meaningful relationships, encouraging internal motivation, and fostering a sense of belonging and responsibility.
What is the company culture like?
Inclusive, supportive, and learner centred. We work as a team and share a passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with SEN. Staff are valued, heard, and encouraged to grow.
Is there a good work/life balance?
Yes. We understand the demands of SEN education and actively promote a healthy balance through clear structures, manageable expectations and strong leadership support.
