Our Courses

The Releasing Potential Institute offers CPD courses and Level 2, 3, 4 and 5 qualifications specific to Alternative Education and Special Educational Needs.

Our expertise in behaviour management and SEND is drawn from over seventeen years working with children with Special Educational Needs in Alternative Provisions, including the South’s leading independent SEN School.

Our courses have been designed for professionals wanting to gain an understanding of behaviour management derived from research and practice outside of mainstream education and care. The course content is based in the context of professional practice whilst incorporating theory to underpin our approach.

Perfect for individuals or those working with young people in alternative settings, SEN students in mainstream schools and inclusion units, or those with an interest in the follwoing sreas:

Special Educational Needs
Outdoor Education
Behaviour Management
Alternative Provision

Releasing Potential has a strict no-restraint policy. While learning derived from our courses can be used in conjunction with other forms of behaviour management that include restraint, we do not believe in the use of ‘positive handling’ and do not include this on our training courses.

Accreditation

Our courses are accredited by NCFE, one of the UK’s largest accrediting body for bespoke professional qualifications. The content, quality and standard of our courses have been approved by the Institute for Outdoor Learning, and we are a recommended provider for outdoor instructors working with young people.

NCFE Level 2 in The Management of Challenging Behaviour (Online)

The Level 2 online course is recognised and accredited by NCFE, the national awarding body who issue certificates for this bespoke qualification and who ratify the course.

The course provides interactive course materials and assessment without the need for learners to attend face-to-face training, and there is less focus on complex theories of behaviour management. The Level 2 course is structured around 4 modules and corresponds roughly to a GCSE qualification – please note, this is a customised qualification and not directly equivalent to a GCSE.

Newly qualified professionals or those without extensive experience working with challenging behaviour will find the Level 2 less advanced than the taught Level 3.

Those with more than 6 months’ experience working directly with young people would likely find the NCFE Level 3 qualification better suited to their needs.

Cost: £80

Total Learning Time: 25 hours.
