Helping students who don't engage with mainstream education

Often children with difficult backgrounds do not flourish in school. They don't like school and have poor attendance records. When they are at school their behaviour is difficult and they don't fit in. After leaving school they may lack the confidence and social skills to do well in the workplace.

Releasing Potential is a charity based in Havant that runs programs with young people in Hampshire, West Sussex and Portsmouth. These build their skills and confidence so they have the opportunity to make better choices. Through a variety of activities from sailing to orienteering we reflect with them on their thinking, behaviour and the consequences of that behaviour. Through one-to-ones, team building, group work and residential courses we build a toolkit that the student can use in challenging situations.

Our customised courses are tailored to the needs of a school, an individual student or a group, providing activities from kayaking to orienteering to camp craft. We run programmes over the school holidays for anyone or any group who want to try a new activity, have some fun or gain a new qualification. Call us on 02392 479762 and we can talk through what might work for you or your organisation.

STUDENTS MAKE
THEIR OWN CHOICES

We have been very successful in:

  • Building self-confidence
  • Engaging with education:
    Developing social interaction skills
    Developing communication skills
  • Dealing with anger, confrontation
    and emotional management.
  • Increasing attendance at school or
    their education placement.

OUTDOOR EDUCATION

is a vehicle to bring about change within a young person. The activities enable young people to view themselves in a new light, to gain nationally recognised awards and have a realistic understanding of their potential within the context of the activities.
